A big career shift coming soon
I am excited to announce that in September I’ll be joining my husband, Chris, and the Heartwood Real Estate Group full time. I am looking forward to using the skills I’ve learned from the last decade in real estate sales to make an impact in real estate development in Austin.
When Heartwood launched in 2021, I couldn’t help but get invested in their mission. Heartwood develops and builds various kinds of housing, from luxury homes to townhomes to workforce housing. They are focused on helping Austin tackle the affordability crisis by adding over 1,000 housing units to the Austin market, many of those units affordable or workforce housing in conjunction with existing city programs, such as Affordability Unlocked.
Over the last few months, I’ve become more and more interested in land use, affordable housing programs, sustainability, green building materials and real estate development. I’m very energized by the prospect of exploring those things every day at Heartwood.
My role at Heartwood will be to manage the in-house sales department to sell out projects such as The Reyna (currently taking contracts if you’re interested!) and managing investor relations for the funds that Heartwood has raised.
What does this mean for WIRE and my existing real estate practice? As of September 1, I will no longer be working with buyer and seller clients. It has been an amazing decade and I’m so grateful to all of you over the years who have trusted me to help you with very personal and very important financial decisions. It’s bittersweet to move on to this next chapter, certainly. For any of you who have questions in the future, I’ll always be available for a quick phone call to talk things through, and be happy to make a connection for you to an agent who will be a good fit to help you with your next transaction.
I’ve had the pleasure at WIRE of working with some amazing women, watching them grow and helping them build up their real estate businesses. Saira and Gabrielle, who are currently at WIRE and who many of you have worked with in the past year, will still be in the business. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to them should you want help with your future real estate decisions. Since I’ve had the pleasure of working closely with both of them, I trust them completely to take great care of my family, friends and past clients that I care deeply about.

Market Update
We are seeing an increase in inventory due to many buyers exiting the market as a result of increased interest rates and uncertainty in the economy.
Sellers: Even though inventory is increasing it is still possible to set yourself up for success when selling your home. You may have to do a little more work than sellers have in the past year. Reach out to our team for a copy of our Seller’s Success Checklist that can guide you through prepping your home before listing.
Buyers: If the increased interest rates haven’t forced you out of the market, this might be the perfect time to buy. You may not have to provide a full appraisal waiver or pay for title policy. We are still seeing a few multiple offer situations in areas that are highly desirable and if the homes are priced competitively. However, it’s unlikely you’ll have to pay 30% over list. You have more choices now than you have in the last year.
